O neighbors with the lightning of two dawns,

You approached while my heart was burning,

So you ignited the fire of my heart with yearning,

And extinguished with your determination the light of my eyes.

The easiest thing that befell me after you

Was the anguish that came between my soul and me.

On the night you turned away, the whiteness

Of the dark night was like two mornings to me.

I kept faithful to our companionship while you wasted it,

And you met my true love with betrayal.

Yet I continue to pay the debts of passion

To those whose tyranny in love has chained my obedience.
