بي مُبغِضٌ لي عَلى مَحَبَّتِهِ
يُنكِرُني دائِماً وَأَعرِفُه
He who professes love for me is my enemy
He denies me always though I know him
قاسٍ لِشَكوايَ لا يَلينُ وَلا
يَثنيهِ عَن جَورِهِ مُعَنِّفُه
Harsh towards my complaints, he yields not, nor
Does punishing him for his tyranny bend him
وَعيدُهُ بِالوَفاءِ يُنجِزُهُ
وَوَعدُهُ بِاللِقاءِ يُخلِفُه
His promise of loyalty he fulfils
His word on meeting, he breaks
فِرعَونُ مَن ظَلَمَهُ اِستَعارَ وَبِالحُس
نِ لَهُ قَد أَقَرَّ يوسُفُه
Like Pharaoh, who did Joseph wrong
Then borrowed his fairness, so beauty lent him
