لَبيبُهُم أَحمَقُ مِن باقِلٍ

وَبِرُّهُم عارٍ مِنَ البِرِّ

Their wise man is more foolish than Bāqil,

And their righteousness is more shameful than sin.

يوهِمُ اَنَّ الصِدقَ في زَورِهِ

وَيَسلُكُ الخَيرَ إِلى الشَرِّ

He pretends that lies are truth,

And leads good to evil.

يَرى الَّذي لَم يَدرِ مِثلَ الَّذي

يَنطِقُ بِالنَومِ وَلا يَدري

He sees the same as one who does not know,

He speaks in sleep, unaware.
