أُمّي الشَريعَةُ وَالمُقيمُ لَها أَبي
وَبَنو بَنيها كُلُّهُم إِخواني
My mother is my creed, and its upholder is my father,
And all its people are my brethren and comrades.
أَأَعَزُّ والِدَتي وَأَنكُرُ والِدي
وَإِلى عَدايَ أَفُرُّ مِن أَعواني
Shall I glorify my mother while denying my father?
Shall I flee from my own unto my enemies?
وَأَفُرُّ مِن أُنسي إِلى وَحشِ الفَلا
إِن كُنتُ ذاكَ فَلَستُ بِالإِنسانِ
Shall I desert my own kindred for the wild beasts?
If I did so, I would not be human.
