حَمولٌ لِأَعباءِ الهَوى غَيرُ طالِعٍ
لَواشٍ وَلا عاصٍ لِما أَمَرَ الحُبُّ
Bearing the burdens of passion though not inclined,
Neither disobedient nor unyielding to love's command,
مَشوقٌ إِلى نَجدٍ بِأَكنافِ عالِجٍ
يُعالِجُ أَوصاباً عَزيزَ لَها الطَبُّ
Yearning for Nejd with its healing airs,
That cure a malady beyond medicine's reach.
تُقَلِّبُهُ أَيدي الصَبابَةِ وَالأَسى
بِمَنزِلِ قَومٍ ما لَهُ عِندَهُم قَلبُ
The hands of youth and sorrow turn him over
In a tribe's abode, who have no heart for him.
