المَطلُ وِالوَنمعدِ أَذىً

يُبطِلُ حَقَّ الصِدَقَه

Wastefulness in giving alms

Negates the merit of charity.

وَمُنفِقٍ إِسرافُهُ

يِزيلُ فَضلَ النَفَقَه

And one who spends extravagantly -

His excess eliminates the virtue of spending.

وَمُدَّعي العِلمِ بِغَيرِ عَمَلٍ

ما أَحمَقَه

And one who claims knowledge without action,

How ignorant he is!
