يا مَن يَعُدّ لِسانهُ
أَهلَ القَريضِ لَهُ مجنّا
O you whose tongue
the poets deem a shield for you:
لَكَ خاطِرٌ لِبَدائِعِ ال
أَلفاظِ وَالمَعنى مسنّى
Yours is a mind sharpened for the wonders of
words and meanings.
حاشى لِدَهرِكَ أَن يعو
دَ فتيُّهُ أَبَداً مَسنّى
Far be it from your age that its young man should
ever grow old.
