قَد أَبى لي خِضابَ شَيبي فُؤاد
فِيه وَجدٌ بِكَتمِ سِرّي وَلُوعُ
My henna'd locks refused to hide my heart's grief
In them sorrow was found from my secret's concealment
خافَ أَن يُحدِثَ الخِضابُ نُصُولاً
وَنُصولُ الخِضابِ سرٌّ يَذيعُ
It feared henna would cause curls to appear
And the curls of henna would spread my secret
