لَقَد راعَني بِدرُ الدُجى بِصدودِهِ
وَوَكَّلَ أَجفاني برعيِ كَواكِبِهِ
Indeed, the full moon of night has dismayed me by his turning away.
And charged my eyelids with watching over his stars.
فَيا جَزَعي مَهلاً عَساهُ يَعودُ لي
وَيا كَبِدي صَبراً عَلى ما كَواكَ بِهِ
So, O my anguish, be still—perhaps he will return to me.
And O my liver, endure what he has seared you with.
