لاحَ لي في الرياضِ نُورُ الشَقيقِ
فَحَكى لي غَلائِلاً مِن عَقيقِ
The anemone’s radiance appeared to me in the gardens,
and seemed to me like sheer robes of carnelian.
ما يَشُقُّ الهُمومَ مِثلُ شَقيقٍ
عِندَ راحٍ لِكُلِّ روحٍ شَقيقِ
Nothing cuts through cares like an anemone
beside wine, a brother to every soul.
