    Eyelids conquered by slumber,

A side unfit for rest's cushion,

Events struck me and my people,

Subduing with them even the steadfast leader.

So it tore away our homelands and theirs,

    Separating the unifier - distance.

I say, while my heart holds fire and passion

    That burns between my guts.

And in my chest the sorrows writhe,

While thoughts race on in my heart.

Oh, is there with loved ones any union?

Will the days of joy with them recur?

No, by God, three things never reunite:

Parting from them, my eyes, and sleep.

If you reunite our severed clan again,

Though days are unjust and thrifting,

You would save us from events with a pact,

Firm, that strays not nor can be undone.

But how can days make a pact that holds

When their nature is fickle and corrupt?
