يا مَن غَدا في الجَمعِ يُتعِبُ نَفسَهُ

يا مَن غَدا في الجَمعِ يُتعِبُ نَفسَهُ

كَيما يَزيدَ عَقارهُ وَضَياعَه

كَيما يَزيدَ عَقارهُ وَضَياعَه

O one who has come to weary himself in amassing wealth,

O you who toils in the crowds to tire himself

so as to increase his property and estates.

So that he may increase his possessions and losses

مَن ظَلَّ في التَجميعِ يُنفِقُ عُمرَهُ

مَن ظَلَّ في التَجميعِ يُنفِقُ عُمرَهُ

فَمَتى يَكونُ بِأَكلِهِ اِستمتاعُه

فَمَتى يَكونُ بِأَكلِهِ اِستمتاعُه

Whoever keeps spending his life amassing wealth—

He who spent his life gathering wealth

when, then, will he enjoy consuming it?

When will he enjoy what he eats?

أَفنَيتَ عُمرَكَ في حُطامٍ حُزتَهُ

أَفنَيتَ عُمرَكَ في حُطامٍ حُزتَهُ

باقٍ عَلَيكَ أَثامُهُ وَضَياعُه

باقٍ عَلَيكَ أَثامُهُ وَضَياعُه

You have spent your life on worldly dross you acquired;

You wasted your life on rubbish you collected

its guilt and loss remain your burden.

Its sins and losses remain with you
