أَهلاً بِكُم صَحِبتكم نَحوي الدِيَمُ

وَحانَ أَن يَتَسَنّى لي بِكُم حُلُمُ

Welcome my friends, your company takes me to euphoria

And it is time for me to dream with you

حُثّوا المَطيَّ وَلَو لَيلا بمجهلةٍ

فَلَن تَضِلّوا وَمن بِشري لَكُم عَلَمُ

Spur the mount even in the darkest night

You will not go astray for I guide you

لأنتُمُ القَومُ إِن خطّوا يُجِد قَلَمٌ

وَإِن يَقولوا يُصِب فصل الخِطاب فَمُ

You are the people, if you make mistakes the pen will find

And if you speak the eloquence of speech is in the mouth

لا خَرقٌ إِن رقموا كتبا وَلا حَصرٌ

إِذ يَنتَدونَ ولا جَورٌ إِذا حَكَموا

No holes if they register books, no limit

As they aim and no injustice when they judge

أَقدِم أَبا الأَصبغ المَحبوبِ تلقَ فَتىً

هَشَّ المَوَدَّة لا يُزري بِهِ سأمُ

I welcome Abu Al-Asbagh the beloved, receiving a young man

Whose affection is sincere and will not bore him

هَذا فُؤاديَ قَد طارَ السُرورُ بِهِ

إِن كُنتَ تَنقُلكَ الوَخّادَةُ الرُسُمُ

This is my heart that flew with joy

If the pattern carries you

سأكتُم اللَيلَ ما أَشكوهُ مِن بُعُدٍ

وَأسألُ الصُبحَ عَنكُم حينَ يَبتَسِمُ

I will confide to the night what I complain of estrangement

And I will ask the dawn about you when it smiles
