1. جاءَتكَ لَيلاً في ثياب نَهارِ

    مِن نورها وَغِلالَة البُلّارِ

    She came to you at night in daytime garb

    With her brightness and the moon's splendor

  2. كالمُشتَري قَد لَفّ مِن مريخِهِ

    إِذ لَفَّهُ في الماءِ جَذوَةَ نارِ

    Like Mars when it was wrapped

    In fiery water by its orbit

  3. لَطُفَ الجُمودُ لِذا وَذا فَتآلَفا

    لَم يَلقَ ضِدٌّ ضدّهُ بِنِفارِ

    Solidity and fluidity harmonized

    No opposite met its opposite with disdain

  4. يَتَحَيَّرُ الراؤُونَ في نَعتَيهِما

    أَصفاءُ ماءٍ أم صَفاءُ دَرارِ

    The describers are confused about them

    Are they pure water or pure pearls?
