قَد زارَنا النَرجِسُ الذَكيُّ

وَآنَ مِن يَومِنا العَشيُّ

The clever narcissus has visited us

And the evening of our day has come

وَنَحنُ في مَجلِسٍ أَنيقِ

وَقَد ظَمئنا وَثَمَّ ريُّ

And we are in an elegant gathering

Thirsty, with plentiful saliva

وَلي خَليلٌ غَدا سميّي

يا لَيتَهُ ساعَدَ السَميُّ

And I have a friend who tomorrow will be my supporter

If only the poison were helpful
