تَغَيَّرَ لي فيمَن تَغَيّر حارِثُ

وَرُبَّ خَليلٍ غيرَتهُ الحَوادِثُ

The friend in whom my hope was placed is changed,

And oft the accidents of life estrange.

أَحارِثُ إِن شوركتُ فيكَ فَطالَما

نِعمنا وَما بَيني وَبَينَك ثالِثُ

O Hareth, though we now are severed wide

Nought comes between the friendship once made ours.
