إِن تابَ إِبليسُ يَوماً تابَ عابِدُكُم

مِنَ الضَلالِ وَلَن تُلقوا فَتىً فُتِنا

If Iblis repents one day, your worshipper

Will repent from misguidance, and you will not find a young man tempted

وَعَمَّنا الغَيُّ حَتّى خِلتَنا دَمِثاً

مُقابِلاً مِن سَفاهٍ عارِضاً هَتِنا

And ignorance has spread over us until we have become corrupt

Facing from foolishness, presenting our nonsense

غَنِيُّنا مِن عَفافِ النَفسِ أَفقَرُنا

وَقيلُنا عَلَجُ وَحشٍ يَألَفُ الأَتُنا

Our rich are the poorest in self-restraint

And it is said we are the medicine of a beast that befriends stench
