صَلِّ القَبائِلُ بِالفَخارِ وَإِنَّما

خُلِقوا مِنَ الصَلصالِ كَالفَخّارِ

The tribes are armed with pottery, yet

They were created from clay like pottery.

وَسَيوجِدُ الغُدرِيُّ عَظماً ناخِراً

فَتَقِلُّ رَغبَتُهُ إِلى النَخّارِ

The treacherous one will find brittle bones.

His craving for them will cease.

فَعَلَيكَ بِالتَقوى ذَخيرَةَ ظاعِنٍ

إِنَّ التَقيَّةَ أَفضَلُ الأَذخارِ

So take piety as provision for one in need,

For piety is best of all provision.

آلُ الفَتى كَالآلِ فَوقَ تُرابِهِ

وَشَرابُهُ كَسَرابِهِ السَخارِ

The family of the youth is like his tools above his dust,

And his drinking is like his mirage’s cistern.
