إِذا سَخِطَت رُوحُ الفَتى فَلِيَقُل لَها
لَعَمرُكِ ما وُفِّقتِ أَن تَسكُني الجِسما
When the young man’s soul chafes in discontent, let him say to it:
“By your life, you found no good fortune in dwelling within the body.”
فَإِن هِيَ قالَت ما عَلِمتُ فَرُبُّها
مِنَ المَوتِ يُعطيها لِأَدوائِها حَسما
And if it says, “I did not know,” then its Lord,
through death, will grant it a decisive cure for its maladies.
