لا يُبصِرُ القَومُ في مَغناكَ غِسلَ يَدٍ

عَلى الطَعامِ إِلى أَن يُرفَعَ السورُ

The people do not see in your feast

A hand washing over the food

وَلا يَكُن ذاكَ إِلّا بَعدَ كَفِّهِمُ

أَكُفَّهُم وَيَسيرُ الفِعلُ مَيسورُ

Until the curtain is lifted

Their palms suffice them, and the deed becomes easy

فَإِنَّ تَقريبَ خُدّامِ الفَتى حُرُضاً

وَالضَيفُ يَأكُلُ رَأيٌ مِنهُ مَخسورُ

To urge servants to the youth is dangerous advice

And the guest eats, an opinion from him is risky
