اِنفَرَدَ اللَهُ بِسُلطانِهِ

فَما لَهُ في كُلِّ حالٍ كِفاء

God alone holds sovereign power

He has no equal in any situation

ما خَفِيَت قُدرَتُهُ عَنكُمُ

وَهَل لَها عَن ذي رَشادٍ خَفاء

His power has not been hidden from you

Nor is it hidden from the rightly guided

إِن ظَهَرَت نارٌ كَما خَبَّروا

في كُلِّ أَرضٍ فَعَلَينا العَفاء

If a fire appears, as they have told,

In every land, we seek refuge

تَهوي الثُرَيّا وَيَلينُ الصَفا

مِن قَبلِ أَن يوجَدَ أَهلُ الصَفاء

The Pleiades fall and Sirius yields

Before the people of purity arrive

قَد فُقِدَ الصِدقُ وَماتَ الهُدى

وَاِستُحسِنَ الغَدرُ وَقَلَّ الوَفاء

Truthfulness has been lost and guidance has died

Treachery is admired and loyalty scarce

وَاِستَشعَرَ العاقِلُ في سُقمِهِ

أَنَّ الرَدى مِمّا عَناهُ الشِفاء

The sensible man feels in his sickness

That well-being forewarns recovery

وَاِعتَرَفَ الشَيخُ بِأَبنائِهِ

وَكُلُّهُم يَنذِرُ مِنهُ اِنتِفاء

The old man acknowledges his sons

Though all portend his demise

رَبَّهُمُ بِالرِفقِ حَتّى إِذا

شَبّوا عَنا الوالِدَ مِنهُم جَفاء

Raise them gently, until when

They come of age, they spurn their father

وَالدَهرُ يَشتَفُّ أَخِلّاءَهُ

كَأَنَّما ذَلِكَ مِنهُ اِشتِفاء

And time mocks its dear ones

As though that were its recovery
