يُطَهِّرُ الجَسَدَ المَغرورَ صاحِبُه
وَإِنَّما صيغَ أَقذاراً وَأَنجاسا
Its owner purifies the deluded body,
though it was fashioned of nothing but filth and impurities.
كَم اِدَّعى الطُهرَ ناسٌ ثُمَّ كَشَفَهُم
مَرُّ الزَمانِ فَكانَ القَومُ أَرجاسا
How many people claimed purity—then they were exposed by
the passage of time and proved to be a foul people.
لا يَمنَعُ المِلِكَ الجَبارَ مِن قَدَرٍ
يُغَيِّرُ الحالَ ما أَجدى وَما جاسا
The imperious king cannot ward off a decree of fate
that changes his state, however much he gains and however far he ranges.
وَلَو غَدا الكَواكِبُ المِرّيخُ في يَدِهِ
كَالسَهمِ وَاِتَّخَذَ البِرجيسَ بِرجاسا
Even if Mars in his hand were to assail the planets
like an arrow, and he made a zodiacal mansion his target.
