الدَهرُ يَنسَخُ أولاهُ أَواخِرُهُ

فَلا يُطيلَن بِهَذا اللَومِ إِنصابي

Time copies its beginning from its end

So do not prolong blame for my stance

داءُ الحَياةِ قَديمٌ لا دَواءَ لَهُ

لَم يَخلُ بُقراطُ مِن سُقمٍ وَأَوصابِ

The illness of life is chronic without cure

Not even Hippocrates escaped sickness and pain

تِلكَ اليَهودُ فَهَل مِن هائِدٍ لَهُمُ

وَالصائِبونَ وَكُلٌّ جاهِلٌ صابي

Those are the Jews, is there a guide for them?

And the accused, all are ignorant fools

وَالإِنسُ ما بَينَ إِكثارٍ إِلى عَدَمِ

كَالوَحشِ ما بَينَ إِمحالٍ وَإِخصابِ

Mankind oscillates between abundance and nonexistence

Like beasts between infertility and pregnancy

لَم يُثبِتوا بِقِياسٍ أَصلَ دينِهِمُ

فَيَحكُموا بَينَ رُفاضٍ وَنُصّابُ

They did not establish the origin of their religion by proof

To judge between fabricators and devotees

ما الرُكنُ في قَولِ ناسٍ لَستُ أَذكُرُهُم

إِلّا بَقِيَةُ أَوثانٍ وَأَنصابِ

What is the pillar in the words of people I do not recall

Except remnants of idols and statues

لا أَستَقيلُ زَمانِيَ عَثرَةً أَبَداً

ماشاءَ فَلَيَأتِ إِنَّ الشَهدَ كَالصابِ

I will never blame my time for stumbling

Let whatever happens come, for the witness is like the doctor
