1. أَرى بَشَراً عُقولُهُم ضِعافٌ

    أَزالوها لِتُعدَمَ بِالخُمورِ

    I see people whose minds are weak

    They destroyed them to perish in wines

  2. أَبانوا عَن قَبائِحَ مُنكَراتٍ

    فَدَع ما لا يُبينُ مِنَ الأُمورِ

    They revealed abhorrent immoralities

    So leave what does not clarify matters

  3. وَعاشوا بِالخِداعِ فَكُلُّ قَومٍ

    تُعاشِرُ مِن ذِئابٍ أَو نُمورِ

    And they lived by deception, so every people

    Socialize with either wolves or tigers

  4. إِذا ضَحِكوا لِزَيدٍ أَو لِعَمرٍ

    فَإِنَّ السَمَّ يُخَبَّأُ في العُمورِ

    If they laugh at Zayd or Amr

    Then poison is hidden in bitters
