To God I complain of a pain that disobeys me,

And of a world that has no guide within it.

Neglect, like a house whose dwellers have gone, wears it away,

And ignorance, like tenants installed, has rebuilt it.

For certain, the patience of mankind has been lost since Adam,

Could it be, through that loss, that I have been guided?
