The heart is like water, and passions float over it

Like bubbles on water, changing it constantly.

Out of it relationships sprout, only to shrivel later,

Creating covenants out of India and Asma.

Words are like all creation, with good and evil,

And people are like time itself, light and dark.

It’s said there will come a time tailored for them

When hardship turns to prosperity, woe to bounty.

The falcon finds belief in the wilderness

In Imru’ al-Qais’s view of Amr ibn Darima.

I don’t believe this will last forever,

So pluck roses for a soul of sorrows.
