لَم يَكفِها نورُ خَدَّيها وَنورُ نَقاً

في ثَغرِها فَأَصارَت عَشرَها عَنَما

Her cheeks’ light and the light in her teeth were not enough for her,

So she made her dimple a lamb.

كانَت أَضَرَّ لِأَهلِ النُسكِ مِن صَنَمٍ

فَلِيُبعِدِ اللَهُ تِلكَ الحَودَ وَالصَنَما

She was more harmful to the devout than an idol,

So may God banish such coquetry and idol.

لَم يَغنَمِ القَيلُ عُدَّت في الإِماءِ لَهُ

بَل مُظهِرُ الزُهدِ في أَمثالِها غَنِما

The slanderer gained no wealth among the slave girls from her,

Rather the one feigning asceticism among the likes of her gained wealth.
