Does your eye shed tears, O son of the ruddy complexion,
Out of loss though it happened not yesterday nor sheds tears?
For the sake of the simpleton to whom your ancestors
Recited poems that contained glories.
Thus are the judgments of time, which
Is but the life's garment that bears shame.
Time is shameful and leaves no garment intact,
So glory in it lies tattered while shame stays erect.
