Our souls are filled with evils beyond reform

If one of us is righteous, such a one is rare

Our morals did not decay by our choice

But by a fate the divine decrees preordain

The origin is cheating, branches conform

How can sons be loyal when fathers betray?

When deeds are diseased, their names and motives show it

Tell the foolish raven, if hearing, it can change its color

Your generosity is unknown, your stinginess evident

Your glory gone, your body wasted and gaunt

O children of this age, though your forms are tall

In noble deeds, you fall shorter than all

Long ago, the den cried: where are the cubs?

The forest cried: where are the fierce lions?

In every land, death sets its traps

Swearing no soul shall its grip escape

A deer roamed where it had no place

And wandered into the jaws of death
