المُلكُ لِلَّهِ لا نَنفَكُّ في تَعَبٍ

حَتّى تَزايَلَ أَرواحٌ وَأَجسادُ

The kingdom belongs to Allah, we do not cease in fatigue

Until souls and bodies wither away,

وَلا يُرى حَيوانٌ لا يَكونُ لَهُ

فَوقَ البَسيطَةِ أَعداءٌ وَحُسّادُ

And no living being remains that does not have

Enemies and enviers above the earth,

وَما أُؤَمِّلُ عِندَ الدَهرِ مَصلَحَةً

وَإِنَّما هُوَ إِتلافٌ وَإِفسادُ

And I have no hope in fate for prosperity,

It only destroys and corrupts,

وَلا أُسَرُّ إِذا ما أُسرَتي خَمَلوا

وَهَل أَمِنتُ عَليهُمُ إِن هُمُ سادوا

And I am not pleased when my equals go astray,

And could I trust them if they prevailed?

وَالناسُ مِثلَ ضِراءِ الصَيدِ إِن غَفِلَت

عَن شَأنِها فَلَها بِالطَبعِ إِيسادُ

People are like prey animals, if you neglect

Their affairs, they naturally lean to evil,

إِذا الأَصاغِرُ لاقَتها أَكابِرُها

فَتِلكَ في الشَرِّ أَشبالٌ وَآسادُ

When the small encounter the great,

Those are in evil cubs and lions.
