1. وارَحمَتا لِلأَنامِ كُلِّهِمُ

    فَإِنَّهُم مِن هَوى الحَياةِ أُتوا

    Have mercy and compassion for all people

    For they are driven by the desire for life

  2. أُفٍّ لَهُم ما أَقَلَّ فِطنَتَهُم

    لَذّوا أَكيلاً وَإِنَّما سُئِتوا

    Woe to them, how little is their insight

    They relished food, yet were only made wretched

  3. غَنّوا مِن الجَهلِ في مَحافِلِهِم

    وَلَو دَرَوا ما تَحَمَّلوا نَأَتوا

    They sang in ignorance at their gatherings

    If only they knew what they endured, they would refrain
