إِذا بَلَغَ الوَليدُ لَدَيكَ عَشراً

فَلا يَدخُل عَلى الحُرَمِ الوَليدُ

When the boy reaches ten with you

Let not the boy enter the sacred precincts

فَإِن خالَفتَني وَأَضَعتَ نُصحي

فَأَنتَ وَإِن رُزِقتَ حِجاً بَليدُ

If you oppose me and disregard my advice

You will be, even if blessed with pilgrimage, accursed

أَلا إِنَّ النِساءَ حِبالُ غَيٍّ

بِهِنَّ يُضَيَّعُ الشَرَفُ التَليدُ

Beware, women are the ropes of misguidance

Through them is lost the honored ancient ways
