مِن أَعجَبِ الأَشياءِ في دَهرِنا

وَاللَهُ لا ناسٍ وَلا والِثُ

Among the strangest things in our time—

by God!—neither people nor wealth endure:

إِثنانِ باتا في فِراشٍ مَعاً

فَأَصبَحا بَينَهُما ثالِثُ

Two slept on one bed and on waking

found between them, in the morning, a third.
