إِنّي وَنفَسي أَبَداً في جِذاب
أُكذُبُها وَهيَ تُحِبُّ الكِذاب
I and my soul are ever in conflict
I lie to it, though it loves lies
إِن أَدخُلِ النارَ فَلي خالِقٌ
يَحمِلُ عَنّي مُثقَلاتِ العَذاب
If I enter the fire, I have a Creator
Who will lift from me the burdens of punishment
يَقدِرُ أَن يُسكِنَني رَوضَةً
فيها تَرامى بِالمِياهِ العِذاب
He is able to settle me in a garden
Wherein flow streams of pain's oblivion
لا أُطعَمُ الغِسلينَ في قَعرِها
وَلا أُغادى بِالحَميمِ المُذاب
I will not feed the two washers in its depth
Nor will I wander with the molten lava
