تَمَزَّنَ مِن مُزنِ السَحابِ مَعاشِرٌ
وَمِن مازِنٍ بَيضِ النَمالِ تَمَزُّني
Some folk became rain clouds, drawing from the clouds above.
And from Māzin, from ants’ eggs, you suck me dry.
عَزَزتُ وَزُبُّ الناسِ أَعطاكَ عِزَّةً
وَأَصبَحتُ هَيناً كُلُّ شَيءٍ يَعُزُّني
I was strong, and the people’s phallus gave you strength.
Now I have become lowly; everything overpowers me.
كَنَبتٍ ضَعيفٍ لَم يُوازِرهُ غَيرُهُ
فَأَيُّ نَسيمٍ هَبَّ فَهوَ يَهُزُّني
Like a weak plant with no other plant to support it,
I am shaken by any breeze that blows.
