غَرَّكَ سودُ الشَعَراتِ الَّتي
في الوَجهِ مِنّي وَأَنا الدالِفُ
You're deceived by the blackness of the hair
On my face while I am the sincere one
كَلَفَتني شيمَةَ عَصرٍ مَضى
هَيهاتَ مِنكَ العُصرُ السالِفُ
I was burdened with the morals of a past age
Alas, from you the past age differs
وَقَد سَئِمنا زَمَناً مُؤذِياً
أَروَحُ مِن سالِمِهِ التالِفُ
And we became weary of a hurtful time
I go from its reconciler the sincere
يَحلِفُ لا أَبّقى عَلى واحِدٍ
وَبِرٌّ في إيمانِهِ الحالِفُ
He swears he won't keep anyone
And righteousness in his faith the swearer
