1. إِذا سَنَةٌ بَكى تَشرينُ فيها

    وَساعَدَهُ بِدَمعَتِهِ أَذارُ

    When a year weeps, October weeps in it

    And April aids it with its tears

  2. فَرودي حَيثُ شِئتِ بِغَيرِ أَزلٍ

    وَلَيسَ عَلَيكِ مِن جَدبٍ حِذارُ

    So wander wherever you wish without losing your way

    And have no fear of barrenness

  3. فَذاكَ أَوانُ تَخضَرُّ الرَوابي

    لِناظِرِها وَتَبيَضُّ الوِذارُ

    For that is when the meadows turn green

    To the eyes of the beholder, and the thorn-apples turn white

  4. أَيُلقى العُذرُ أَم أَبَتِ الخَطايا

    قَديماً أَن يَكونَ لَكِ اِعتِذارُ

    Are excuses accepted or have sins long refused

    To permit you an apology
