الحمد للَه القريب النائي

في ملكه مدبر الأشياء

Praise be to Allah, the Near, the Remote

In His kingdom, the Disposer of all affairs

العالم الداري السميع الرائي

الخالق الخلق بلا امتراء

The All-Knowing, the All-Seeing, the All-Hearing

The Creator of creation without contention

فيما برا من جملة البراء

القابض الباسط في الإعطاء

Of what is apparent of the whole of innocence

The Withholder, the Bestower in giving

بلا اعتجال لا ولا إبطاء

القاسم الرزق على الوراء

Without haste or slowness

The Sustainer, who apportions sustenance to all

والحيوان الكل والشجراء

الماسك الطير بلا أعضاء

And to all animals and trees

Who holds birds without physical limbs

والطير مسباح على الهواء

الماهد الأرضين فوق الماء

With birds glorifying in the air

Who flattened the earth upon the water

والمرسب الرواسي الشماء

الحاكم الفتاح بالغناء

And anchored the towering heavens

The Ruler, the Opener with songs

على البرايا الفرد في البقاء

ازره التعظيم في العلاء

To the wilderness, the One by Himself in eternity

Whose might is glorified on high

وقال إن الكبريا ردائي

السامع الإخفاء في الجوباء

He says: “Indeed, my raiment is supreme majesty”

Hearing the creeping of ants in darknesses

يرى دبيب النمل في الظلماء

أدعوك بالتقديس في الأسماء

I call upon You in declaring Your holy names

A surrendering supplication to Your decree

دعوة مستسلم للقضاء

يا إلهي فاستمع دعائي

O my God, so hear my prayer

To guide me to ways of guidance

هذي يدي باسطة وعائي

أن تهدني مناهج الإهداء

And take me to the limit of hope

I ask You for success in supplication

وتبلغني غاية الرجاء

أسألك التوفيق في الدعاء

And the ultimate request in passage

I hope for protection from You in recitals

وغاية السؤال في المناء

أرجوه حفظا منك في قراء

In wealth, children and illnesses

I seek from You a way of guidance

في المال والأولاد والأدواء

أطلب منك منهج الهداء

That You guide me to a virtuous path

So I obtain deliverance and salvation

أن تهدني بمنهج فيحاء

أقوز بالنجاة والنجاء

From the intent of earning sins and transgressions

I ask You for the bounties of this life

من عمد كسب الذنب والخطاء

أطلب منك جازة الدنياء

Its conditions without dejection or trade

I ask You for success in my final days

حالاه بلا حوب ولا إرباء

أسألك التوفيق في أخرائي

To enter me into the Garden of Refuge

I have resolved to mount the saddlebags

تدخلني في جنة المأواء

إني عزمت ركب الهوجاء

To shed the garb of darknesses

To fold up the carpets of falsehood

أني أقذ حلة الظلماء

أطوي المهاريق من الزوراء

To wrap up the register in the hands of the reciter

To pass the night on the desolate sands

طي السجل بيد القراء

أبيت بالسملقة البهماء

The nightfall of a bird in the air

To rest at the abandoned midday heat

مبيت طيار على الهواء

أقيل بالقيلولة الحراء

Beneath the shadows of a lofty palm tree

Or the belly of a rain-filled depression

تحت ظلال دوحة الفضاء

أو بطن ذات ميعة قرواء

Like an awe-inspiring barren hillside

I startle it with the malice of youth

كالقلة الهائلة الرعناء

أقلقها بويرح الصباء

And shake it with the tender dawn

O my God, I complain of my condition

وهزها بالغد الزهراء

يا إلهي أشتكي من دائي

My happiness lies with You, or my misery

I have repented of my sins and my boasts

سعادتي لديك أو شقائي

إني من ذنبي ومن ثنائي

So pardon me in the encounter

And accept, my God, my pure boasts

تبت فهبني العفو في اللقاء

وأقبل إلهي المحض من ثنائي

And make Your pleasure my reward tomorrow

Send blessings upon the Prophet in the evening

وأجعل رضاك في غد جزائي

صل على النبي بالمساء

And in the morning, You are my Master

The most virtuous prayers, then praise

وبالصباح أنت يا مولائي

أزكى الصلاة ثم والهناء

And peace upon the companions and saintly friends

And the followers after the prophets

والصحب والأزواج الأولياء

والتابعين بعد الأنبياء
