1. الرزء أفجع أن نسح دموعا

    والخطب أفظع أن نقد ضلوعا

    The calamity is most heartbreaking when tears flow

    And disasters most terrible when ribs are crushed

  2. هذا هو النبأ العظيم تصدعت

    كل القلوب لوقعه تصديعا

    This is the great news that cracked

    All hearts because of its impact, shattering them

  3. كادت لموقعه وعظم نزوله

    شهب السماء بأن تخر وقوعا

    Due to its position and the enormity of its descent

    The stars in the sky almost fell and collapsed

  4. هيهات لا رزء كرزئك أحمد

    في العالمين بأن يكون ذريعا

    Alas! There is no calamity like yours, O Ahmed

    That could possibly become widespread in both worlds

  5. من سره توديع مجد باذخ

    وعلا فينظر هكذا التوديعا

    One whose glory in farewell was radiant

    And exalted, so he looked upon this farewell

  6. دفن الندى والمجد عندك أحمد

    حلت محلا قد حللت شسوعا

    The dew and glory died with you, O Ahmed

    And took the place where you settled, deserted

  7. آها له رزءاً لفقدك أحمد

    أضحى على كل الأنام فظيعا

    Oh! What grief for his loss, O Ahmed

    It has become terrible for all people

  8. عظمت مصائبه وجل وقوعه

    فكأنه قد كان فيك بديعا

    Its tribulations are great, the gravity of its fall

    As if it had been marvelous within you

  9. لا مقلة إلا بكت أو مهجة

    إلا عليك تقطعت تقطيعا

    No eyelid but has cried or pupil

    That has not been cut to pieces weeping for you

  10. لا قلب إلا في أسى متقلب

    حزناً عليك وحرقة ونزوعا

    No heart but is tossed in anguish

    Grieving for you, burning and heaving with sighs

  11. خرجوا بنعشك والعلا وبناتها

    قد شيعته والندى تشييعا

    They went out with your bier, and the highlands and their daughters

    Escorted it while the dew bid farewell

  12. فكأنما صعقات موسى عند ما

    بالزير غودر أجبلا مقطوعا

    As if they were the swoons of Moses when

    The mountain was cut off, falling at Al-Za’ir

  13. والنائحات بإثره فكأنها

    مثمولة قد صرعت تصريعا

    And the wailing women in its trail, as if

    They were the slain, felled by death blows

  14. حتى الحمام عليك يا سر العلا

    فوق الغُصون يرادف التسجيعا

    Even the doves above you, O pride of the highlands

    Double their cooing above the branches in eulogy

  15. فنسى هديلاً بعد موتك أحمد

    أمسى عليك يضاعف الترجيعا

    Having forgotten, after your death O Ahmed

    The arrhythmic cooing, now redoubling their lament

  16. قد ردد الكافين فوق غصونه

    والحزن يكشف بالبكا التنقيعا

    Echoing their lament above the branches

    While grief exposes their sincere wailing

  17. وأعز لو يجدي البكا لبكاك من

    تحت السما يا ابن الكرام جميعا

    If only wailing could avail to bewail you, by

    The Most High, O son of honored ones altogether

  18. إن كنت قد اصبحت ثاوٍ في الثرى

    فحميد صنعك عنك عاش مذيعا

    If you have become covered in soil

    Then your praiseworthy character lived, spreading

  19. والذكر عمر للفتى الثاني له

    إِن راح من كاس الحمام صريعا

    And remembrance is the life of the excellent youth

    If he passed away, felled in the cup of pigeons

  20. قد طال ما أغنت يمينك عائلاً

    ومنعت مضهوداً وجدت صنيعا

    Long have you provided for a family

    And prevented the wronged, being most charitable

  21. ولطالما جمعت مفترق الثنا

    وشتت جيشاً للعدى مجموعا

    And long have you gathered the separated

    And scattered an enemy army, assembled

  22. قد كنت ذا رأي يفرق عنكم

    نوب الزمان وللعداة جموعا

    You were of an opinion that distracted

    The turns of time from you, and the enemy troops

  23. قد كان حلمك واسعاً كل الورى

    والصبر جرعك المنا تجريعا

    Your patience was vast, encompassing all people

    And you drank the bitter trials, gulping them down

  24. أحييت كند وهي أسر لحودها

    وشرعت نهجهم الدريس سروعا

    You revived Qindeh, while she was captive to her walls

    And made their crooked path straight, smoothing it out

  25. كانت عمان بك الحصان وما لها

    من لامس خدعا ولا تخديعا

    Oman was your steed, and she had no

    Deceiver touch her, nor any deceiver

  26. قد صنتها صون العروس ببعلها

    فحماؤها بك قد غدا ممنوعا

    You protected her, guarding her like a groom his bride

    So her protector in you has become forbidden

  27. فاليوم قد ودعتها لم تدر ما

    تلقى خلاف وداعك المودوعا

    Today you have bid her farewell, she does not know

    What she will face after your stored farewell

  28. أقفرت دورا منك كن عمارة

    وعمرت دوراً سوحهن رضيعا

    Her homes are deserted without you, that you had inhabited

    And the homes whose surfaces have become barren nurslings

  29. جاورت قوماً لا تزاور بينهم

    أبداً مواصلها غدا مشسوعا

    You dwelled with a people you will never

    Visit again, so that communing with them is now difficult

  30. مأسورة في كل لحد ضيق

    غير الصلاح فلا يرون شفيعا

    Imprisoned in every narrow grave

    With no righteousness, so they see no intercessor

  31. تترقب الناقور ساعة نفخه

    كي ينجعوا نهر النبي نجوعا

    Awaiting the first blast of the trumpet

    That they may gush forth to the flowing river of the Prophet

  32. هم قبلنا ركب سرى متقدما

    نحن القطار لهم نسير سريعا

    Those before us embarked ahead

    While we are the later group, traveling fast

  33. والموت باب كلنا ولاجه

    لم ندر من بالدار كان قريعا

    And death is the door we all must pass through

    We know not who in the house was the first to go

  34. ضحكت على أعمالنا آمالنا

    حتى أسرنا ظنة وخدوعا

    Our hopes laughed at our deeds

    Until they left us deluded and deceived

  35. كالروضة الدنيا لنا معياشة

    ولنحن سرب لا تزال ربوعا

    The world is to us a place of living

    While we are a flock that still roams around its pastures

  36. والموت كالقناص مستتراً لنا

    لم ندر إِلا في الحبال وقوعا

    And death is like a hunter, lying in wait for us

    We did not know except that it fell upon the ropes

  37. عكفت بقبرك أحمد حنانة

    تذري عليك مدى الزمان دموعا

    You remained by your grave, O Ahmed, sad

    Shedding tears the length of time in streams

  38. تسقيك والجيران حولك كلما

    قشعت بدت أخرى عليك طلوعا

    Watering you, and your neighbors all around

    Whenever the darkness cleared, the dawn rose over you again

  39. فكأن أدمعها الغرار مكارم

    لك من يديك جرت لنا ينبوعا

    As if her falling tears were generosity

    To you, from your hands the springs flowed for us

  40. مت بالهنا فبنوك نعم خلائفا

    بك أسمكوا بيت العلا مرفوعا

    You died in glory, yet your children are excellent heirs

    By you, the House of Al has been erected sublime

  41. هذا سليمان الفتى ومحمد

    ومحمد وحبا الربيع ربيعا

    And Muhammad and Hubba, the springtime spring

    Honored by four mountains, seas

  42. أكرم بأربعة جبالاً أبحرا

    سيفاً يسل على العداة قطيعا

    A sword unsheathed against the enemy throngs

    Suleiman wears the necklaces as this

  43. متقلد الآرا سليمان وذا

    فربيعة متحملاً زعزيعا

    Tribe wields its gleaming swords

    To them time is long in generosity

  44. الدهر عندهم الطويل مكارماً

    وحشائماً ومصادماً أسبوعا

    And vigor, clashing each week

    I have dressed their chests in coats of mail

  45. الصائنين لهم عروضاً ألبست

    عما يشين من الجميل دروعا

    Against what disgraces the beautiful, as armor

    Those who protect Oman from what she dreaded

  46. المانعين عمان عما حاذرت

    حتى بهم أمسى الضهيد منيعا

    So that by them the slain became impenetrable

    My son Mu’ayyad Ahmad, be patient

  47. إبني المؤيد أحمد صبرا على

    فقد الأب الزاكي الأجل صنيعا

    For the loss of the righteous father, the consummate artisan

    He only died after he trained you

  48. ما مات إلا بعد ما أترعكم

    في سبق ميدان العلاء تروعا

    To exceed in the field of excellence, frightening others

    I offer you and all of Qindeh condolences

  49. إني أعزيكم وكندة كلها

    وأنا الشريك لكم أسى وجزوعا

    While I share in your pain and agony

    O people of Qindeh, I pray for you all

  50. يا آل كندة داعياً لجميعكم

    فجميعكم لي أرتجيه سميعا

    And you are all listening to my prayer

    Beware infiltrators who come between you

  51. إياكم الدهياء تدخل بينكم

    بختائل تدع الرفيع وضيعا

    With wickedness, leaving the eminent degraded

    Verily the enemy’s covert maneuvers

  52. إن العدو خفية دوراته

    كالسم وسط الماء صار نقيعا

    Are like poison in water, it became an extract

    And some are like snakes, hiding and lurking

  53. والبعض كالنضناض يخفي راصدا

    لم يدر إلا منه صار لسيعا

    None knowing until it has struck them fatally

    Leave the envious to die of spite

  54. فدعوا الحسود لكم يموت بغيظه

    فكأنه بدج أذيل خليعا

    As if he is the torn garment of a debauched one

    You, O people of Qindeh, if the

  55. فجميعكم يا آل كندة إن دعت

    أبناء أحمد أن يكون مطيعا

    Children of Ahmed call you, be obedient

    Without them your enemies would have seized you

  56. لولاهمو ظفرت بكم أعداؤكم

    فغدا عزيزكمو إذاً أسروعا

    And your mighty ones would thus be captive

    The group is with the leader, so if

  57. إن الجماعة بالزعيم فلو هفت

    قدم له لهفا الجَميع وضوعا

    His foot slips, they all hasten, fervent and zealous

    And so leadership, its strength and sublimity

  58. وكذا الزعم فعزه وعلاؤه

    ما زال في دولاته متبوعا

    Remain perpetual in its cycles, followed

    Be guides to each other if

  59. كونوا الهداة لبعضكم بعضاً إذا

    دهر غدا بأناسه مشفوعا

    Time turns with its people inclining

    You are the children of the estates of Qindeh that

  60. أنتم بنو أملاك كندة قد زكت

    بكمو أصولا في العلا وفروعا

    Have been purified through you, origin and branches

    If you repel the plots of the enemy with fierceness

  61. إن تدفعوا كيد العدا بشراسة

    يبقى حماكم مخصبا منجوعا

    Your protectorate remains fertile, copious

    I have advised you sincere counsel

  62. إني نصحتكمو نصيحة حاذق

    حلب الزمان كهولة ورضيعا

    That the aged and young may find wholesome

    And if the bow is like its example

  63. وبحالكم يشقى إذا صار القنا

    بمثاله عند القنا مقروعا

    It will be severed at the bow, mutilated

    If you heed me, in the end you will thank me

  64. إن تسمعوني تحمدوني عواقبا

    ذهن الحليم فلا يزال مريعا

    For the mind of the wise always remains pliant

    O people of Qindeh, your garden of glory will

  65. يا آل كندة روض عزكمو غدا

    بجمال شملكو الزمان مريعا

    Stay beautiful with your unity, compliant

    There is no elegant luxuriance like your bliss

  66. لا رنق الباري لذيذ نعيمكم

    ولكم فما أعفى الاله ربوعا

    And what plentiful meadows God has apportioned for you

    And bless the Prophet Muhammad

  67. وعلى النبي محمد صلواته

    ما طافَ بالبيت المنيب سبوعا

    However long the pilgrim circles the Sacred House
