1. أيا شارباً كأس خمر الرقاد

    ويا قاطعاً عمره بالتمادي

    O you who drinks from the cup of slumber's wine

    And spends your life prolonging the reverie

  2. فلو كان خوفك باري العباد

    كمعشار خوفك خوف العباد

    If your fear of God matched a fingernail's worth

    Of the fear all people have of God on high

  3. لما عشت في الدهر ذا حيرةٍ

    تروح وتغدو بغير فؤاد

    You'd not live a confused, perplexed existence

    Coming and going without purpose or glee

  4. فتغشى الأمور كحاطب ليلٍ

    وتعمي عن النهج والاقتصاد

    Matters would o’erwhelm you like darkness of night

    Blinding the path and moral propriety

  5. تداوي الذنوب بكسب الذنوب

    كماحي المداد بطشِّ المداد

    You cure sins with more sins, as if to erase

    Ink with more ink, sinking in obscenity

  6. وثوبك لم ترض تدنيه

    ودينك صيرته كالدآد

    Your clothes, you don't mind how low they may fall

    Your faith, like a cloak, trails in indignity

  7. وترجو النجاة وتعمي السبيل

    أتجري السفينة فوق الوهاد

    You hope to be saved, yet walk the wrong way

    Like sailing a ship over dry land does flee

  8. وتفرح بالمال أن تستفيد

    وشرك يا صاح في المستفاد

    You find joy in wealth and monetary excess

    Though in earnings lies partnership with Satan's seed

  9. وتطلب إصلاح دار الفساد

    بإفساد دار صلاح الفساد

    You seek to fix the home of vice and sin

    By vice and sin, which makes the problem stampede

  10. أترجو الخلود بدار الفناء

    وأصلك والفرع تحت الصلاد

    You hope for eternity in the home of death

    While you and yours are destined for the decree

  11. ألم تعتبر بالألى الغابرين

    كطسم وحيي ثمود وعاد

    Of being covered by soil, and trapped by the earth

    Haven't you learned from past generations, long gone?

  12. وأين ملوك بني حميرٍ

    وأبنا معدٍّ وآل هداد

    Like 'Aad and Thamud, tribes erased from this earth

    And where are the kings of the tribe of Hamir?

  13. وأين الذي ملك المغربين

    وعمر ألفين في الألتداد

    Or the sons of Ma'add and clan of Hud?

    And where is he who ruled both East and West

  14. وأين الذي أبعد الغزوتي

    ن سبعين عاماً لنيل المراد

    And lived two thousand years in endurance, as stud?

    And where is he who led conquests galore

  15. وأين الذي كان من جوده

    بغمدان يفضح وبل الغواد

    For seventy years, fulfilling his wish and good?

    And where is he whose generosity did flow

  16. وأين الذي جمع الفيلقي

    ن جيشاً به ضاق عرض البلاد

    That both his sheaths spilled forth in plentitude?

    And where is he who gathered armies so wide

  17. وأين الذي عمروا الجنتين

    ملوك الورى حضرها والبوادي

    The land itself barely contained the brood?

    And where are those kings of earthly abode

  18. وأين الذي صرحه روحت

    به الريح شهراً وشهراً تغادي

    In whose court gathered all tribes, rural and urban?

    And where is he whose palace the winds

  19. وأين أبو القاسم المصطفى

    وأصحابه الغر أهل البوادي

    Swept for months on end without his intrusion?

    And where is Abu Al-Qasim Al-Mustafa

  20. فلو أن يعطى الخلود امرؤٌ

    لأعطي النبي شفيع العباد

    And his companions, glories of the dunes and burden?

    If immortality could be granted a man

  21. عليه الصلاة وأزكى السلام

    مدى ما حدا العيس للبيت حادي

    It would be the Prophet, intercessor for all women and men

    Blessings and peace be upon him for as long

  22. فيا ساحباً ذيل شراته

    ويا راكباً كور بزل العناد

    As the new moon returns to orbit its cycle again

    So beware, o you who trails the train of wickedness

  23. أما لك في عارضيك اعتبار

    بياضاً تبدلن بعد السواد

    And mounts the steed of transgression without end

    Do you not see the lesson in your graying temples?

  24. وما الشيب إلا دليل الردى

    فأكرم به من دليل وهاد

    Whiteness that turns to blackness as time does extend

    Gray hair only shows the way to decline

  25. وها ضرب الآن نوق الرحيل

    ولا السبيل ونادى المنادي

    So honor it as guide before your life does end

    Lo, the camels of departure now kneel down

  26. وزمت نياق الردى للنوى

    جادها من الشيب عجلان حادي

    The caller calls, time to leave does impend

    The camels of ruin are ready, death nears

  27. وقد هيأ القوم زاد الصاحلي

    ن وأنت أترحل من غير زاد

    Urged by gray hair, galloping quick to amend

    The righteous have prepared supplies for their journey

  28. فقم وابتدر عمل الصالحي

    ن واقصد طريق الهدى والرشاد

    While you wander without provision to defend

    So stand, perform good deeds, take guidance

  29. فلا بد للموت من زورة

    إليك على القرب والابتعاد

    And follow the path of truth without apprehend

    Death will pay a visit, both near and afar

  30. ولا بد تسقيك من جرعة

    بكأس الرزايا وكف النفاد

    You'll sip the cup of woes by force it will send

    You'll reside inside a narrow, desolate tomb

  31. ولا بد من سكن في اللحود

    وسادك فيها صلاد الجماد

    With hard, unfeeling rocks as your bosom and friend

    Then, after that, a gathering you can't escape

  32. ولا بد من محشر بعده

    به يجمع اللَه كل العباد

    Where God will collect all souls without amend

    So prepare answers for judgment day

  33. فعد الجواب ليوم الحساب

    وإياك تبلس يوم المعاد

    Beware being unprepared when your life does end

    A day when all your deeds will be reviewed

  34. يوماً تناقش في عرضه

    مناقشة التاجر المستزاد

    Like merchants assess accounts without offend

    You'll be given a book containing all that you did

  35. فتعطى كتاباً به قد حوى

    فعالك من خطأ واعتماد

    Recording triumphs and sins until the end

    Oh happy are they whose good deeds fill their book

  36. فيا فوز من قد حوى قطه

    بيمناه يلقى به اللَه هاد

    That God accepts with pleasure when time does transcend

    They'll be led to a paradise as wide as the skies

  37. يزف إلى جنة عرضها

    كعرض السماء وعرض البلاد

    And breadth of all the earth a soul can comprehend

    With lofty mansions built of musk and camphor

  38. قصور بها عاليات البنا

    وما طينها غير مسك وحادي

    Studded with gems, delighting the soul within

    By each fountain lies a maid of paradise

  39. وفيها الأسرة قد حففت

    ترصع بالجوهر المستجاد

    Like a gazelle, darling of heart and bosomfriend

    Seventy thousand maids come to each

  40. لدى كل عيطاء حورية

    كعين الغزالة بين الخراد

    Friend of God, delightful and without end

    Should a man taste one, she'll return anew

  41. وسبعون ألفاً من الحور تأتي

    لكل ولي موال معاد

    As if he's never touched her or known her amend

    Therein are rivers of wine and honey and milk

  42. إذا افتض منهن حورية

    تعود كما فاتضها بانتهاد

    Flowing abundant, no thirst shells offend

    Fruits available, whatever the soul desires

  43. وفيها جداول خمر وشهد

    ومن عسل سال واد فوادي

    By will of The Preserver, nothing denied or rescind

    No sleepiness, boredom, gloom or fatigue

  44. وفيها الفواكه أو ما اشتهى

    ولي المهيمن غير المذاد

    Nothing to beware or bodies that need mend

    Angels greet them with peace at every gate

  45. وليس بها من رقاد ولا

    تحاذر فيها وخوم السهاد

    A gathering for all, by accounts we comprehend

    When they disperse, they mount horses to roam

  46. ملائكة اللَه من كل باب

    يحيونه بالسلام المعاد

    No sadness or darkness their joy does impend

    And it's said unto them, "In this paradise await

  47. ويجمع أهل الجنان جيمعاً

    لنص الأحاديث فيها نوادي

    Seas in which ships can sail like stars that ascend"

    For them this is blissful pleasure

  48. وعند افتراقهم يركبو

    ن خيلاً تجول بهم في الطراد

    As all their desires are answered without end

    Such is their profit from trade in the mortal world

  49. وقيل لهم في الجنان بحور

    بها الفلك يجري بحوت مضاد

    Unlike failed markets where loss does extend

    But those whose book of deeds their left hand contains

  50. وذلك عندهم لذة

    كذاك لهم كل حرف سناد

    Are wretched souls, whose actions God does condemn

    On a day the winds blew left, scattering their virtues

  51. فذا ربحهم من تجاراتهم

    كما لم يبيعوا بسوق الكساد

    Into an abyss leaving naught to defend

    They are driven to hell, evil their escort

  52. ومن باليسار حوى صحفة

    تبين أفعاله كالرماد

    What an awful escort to that place does send!

    Dragged in shackles of iron that sparks igniting

  53. بيوم به الريح هبت شمالاً

    فأذرته في قاع مرت جلاد

    Their skin is peeled, seventy folds without amend

    They are made to drink festering pus and boiling water

  54. وسيق إلى النار سوق الجنيب

    فيا شره من مساق مقاد

    Never soothing their agony that does impend

    Bitten by serpents inflicting dreadful stings

  55. يغل بغلٍّ وفي رجله

    حديد يجر بشهب حداد

    Torn by beasts while they silently apprehend

    Mountains are uplifted and dashed o’er their heads

  56. يبدل سبعين جلداً بيومٍ

    ويسقى الصديد وما زال صاد

    Crushing them as they fall without pretend

    They are flung deep within its pits and crevices

  57. وتلسعه في لظاها الأفاعي

    وتنهشه الضاريات العوادي

    Falling for years into valleys that never end

    They cry out in agony but no one answers

  58. ويطلع فيها رؤوس جبال

    فينحط من روسها بانهداد

    Even if they called out for years without end

    Beneath them shade of smoke, above scorching embers

  59. وينجر في قعرها هاوياً

    زها ألف عامٍ لجبٍّ ووادي

    Their only comfort, alas, is to comprehend

    Woe that they met their miserable fate

  60. ينادي ويدعو فلا يستجاب

    ولو عاش ما عاش فيها ينادي

    With no savior to offer amended mend

    They wish, even for an hour, they might

  61. ومن تحته ظلل طاميات

    ومن فوقه ظلل كالذآد

    Ransom themselves from this justice so cruel, not pretend

    "Oh, would that I'd never been born!" they bemoan

  62. فويلاً له قد لقي كدحه

    ولم يرج يفديه من ذاك فادي

    "Would that for an hour I might life's course rescind

    And return to undo what I spent wrongly doing!"

  63. يود ولو ساعةً يفتدي

    بما كان من طارفٍ أو تلاد

    They weep, but find no compassionate friend

    "O Malik!" they implore the guarding angel

  64. يقول ألا ليتني لم أكن

    وإن كنت كنت كبذخ النقاد

    "Beg the Lord of Grace for mercy without end!"

    But Malik strikes them down with iron as they wail

  65. ويا ليتني خارج ساعةٍ

    وارجع عما له كنت عادي

    And return to the blaze that does increasingly offend

    Such is the fate of the wretched sinner

  66. ويبكي وما إن له راحمٌ

    وأدمعه أو كفت كالجساد

    With no reprieve or hope his agony might amend

    I seek refuge in You, O Creator mine

  67. يقول لمالكٍ يا مالك

    سل العفو لي من مليك جواد

    Save me from the terrors of that frightening day impend

    See, now I repent of all the wrongs I have done

  68. يخفف عني ولو ساعةً

    أريح بها من لظاها فؤادي

    Grant me pardon for the sins that my soul did send

    Guide me rightly in the time yet before me

  69. فيقمعه مالك بالحديد

    فيرجع من حرها في ازدياد

    In You, my God, all my trust and hopes depend

    The burden of my sins weighs heavily on me

  70. فهذا نصيب الشقي اللعين

    وما إن له بعده من معاد

    Your mercy guide me upon the path You recommend

    Forgive Your servant, my God so gracious

  71. أنا بك يا خالقي أستجير

    أجرني من هول يوم التنادي

    Show clemency beyond what I comprehend

    Grant me in Your pardon life in death that awaits

  72. وها أنا قد تبت مما جنيت

    فهبني غفران ما كان سادي

    Protect me from every enemy that does intend

    Send blessings upon Ahmad Al-Mustafa

  73. ووفقني اللَه مستقبلاً

    عليك عليك إلهي اعتمادي

    Intercessor of servants, guide that our hearts can apprehend

    And his family, and the followers abiding

  74. ذنوبي إلهي قد أثقلتني

    حنانيك هدني طريق الرشاد

    Oceans of light, lions that malice does offend

  75. وكن لي إلهي غفوراً رحيماً

    واغفر لعبدك خدني زياد

  76. وجد لي بعفوك حيّاً ويمتاً

    إذاً وكفني شر كيد الأعادي

  77. وصل على أحمد المصطفى

    شفيع العباد وأكرم هاد

  78. وعترته القادة التابعين

    بحور النوادي أسود الجلاد
