  1. إِذا ما مررنا بالمقابر ساعة

    نصد لنستبقي السرور من الصد

    When we pass by the graves one hour,

    We laugh to preserve the joy against sadness.

  2. حملنا من الآمال فوق مطاقنا

    بنا لعبت لعب المراوح بالفرد

    We carried hopes above our litters,

    Playing the game of passing time alone.

  3. وزخرفت الدنيا لنا ما يروقنا

    بمنظرها المصمي ومطمعها المردي

    The world adorned for us what pleases us

    With its solemn view and its tempting decline.

  4. ضحكنا على الأعمال آمالنا بها

    كضحك لعاب الشمس بالهايم المصدي

    We laughed at deeds, our hopes in them

    Like the laughing of playful sunbeams on barren hills.

  5. إلام وهذا الركب للحشر أمّنا

    وما مهتد إِلا برائده المهدي

    Why is this caravan bound for the resurrection, O protector,

    When none guided but by its leading guide.

  6. عسى الوفد لاقى اللَه راض فإننا

    لنرجوه أَن يخنا بجائزة الوفد

    May the delegation find God pleased, for we

    Hope He would reward the delegation.

  7. أَيا أَسد الباري نعزيك والأَسى

    لعمرك فينا منك زاد على الحد

    O lion of the Creator, we console you, grief

    Has in us, from you, exceeded the limit.

  8. فحزنك يا نور الأَباضي بعضه

    ليحرق منا معلق الروح لا الجلد

    So your sorrow, O light of the Abadis, burns

    The spirit attached to us, not the skin.

  9. قسمنا الأَسى حتى أَخذنا أجلّه

    فلو حل من في الغور أَحرق بالنجد

    We shared the grief until we took most of it

    If poured in the cave, it would have burned the plateau.

  10. عساك وليّ الحمد تسأله الرضى

    لنا ولكم عنه لنظفر بالحمد

    May you - thanks to God - ask Him to be pleased

    With us and you, so we win praise.

  11. سقى قبر من أمست يُسقيه أدمعا

    ملث الغوادي صادق البرق والرعد

    The grave of one who quenched with tears

    Has watered the plains, honest in lightning and thunder.

  12. ويسقي قبوراً حوله رحمة له

    عهاد عهاد غير مختلف العهد

    And it waters graves around it, a mercy from him,

    Faithful, faithful, of unchanging covenant.

  13. وساقته ألطاف من اللَه بعد ما

    لقته بما يرضى إِلى جنة الخلد

    And God's favors escorted him after

    He met with what pleases to the eternal garden.

  14. وصلى عليه الله بعد محمد

    نبي الهدى الهادي ابن آمنة المهدي

    And God prayed upon him after Muhammad

    The prophet of guidance, leader, son of Amina the rightly-guided.
