  1. إلى كم أرقع الدنيا

    بهتكي حلة الدين

    To how much I patched the world

    With my tearing the dress of religion,

  2. وأركض في ميادين ال

    هوى ملء الميادين

    And I race in fields of desire, filling the fields.

    And I disobey those who advise me,

  3. وأعصى من يناصحني

    لطوعي من يعاديني

    And obey those who oppose me.

    I closed the proof of my sin, unlike

  4. غلقت برهن ذنبي من

    خلاف الغلق يفديني

    The unlocking that would save me.

    I left a path that leads

  5. تركت طريق من أمسى

    إلى المنجاة يهديني

    To salvation to guide me.

    And I took a path that leads me astray and ruins me.

  6. وأعطيت الطريق طري

    ق من يغوي ويرديني

    So I have nothing left of the world,

    Nor will I stay with my religion.

  7. فما بقيت لي الدنيا

    ولن أبقى على ديني

    My palm is empty of religion,

    So who will redeem me?

  8. صفرت الكف من دين

    فمن لي من يفديني

    If I was content with a little of it,

    I would be satisfied with a handful,

  9. ولو منها قنعت غني

    ت بالنزر من الدون

    A little water would quench my thirst,

    And coarse clothes would clothe and suffice me.

  10. قليل الماء يرويني

    وسحات تغذيني

    If it were not for the attributes of the virtuous,

    I would have been healed and recovered.

  11. وأدنى خرقة تكسو

    وتكفيني لتكفيني

    Oh, if only I had buried the sin,

    Repenting, before burying me!

  12. ولول بصفات أهل الفض

    ل استشفى لتشفيني

    Pure repentance from the shivers

    Of sin's ice would bury me.

  13. فيا ليتني دفنت الذن

    ب توباً قبل تدفيني

    Oh He who gave me an undiscerning mind,

    Lost and discarded!

  14. فمحض التوب من رعشا

    ت ثلج الذنب تدفيني

    And preceding knowledge of our Creator

    That flowed in the people of the two parties (at the battle of Siffeen).

  15. فيا من لي بعقلٍ غي

    ر مخبول ومأفون

    I am content with what the Creator decreed,

    Setting me free or burying me,

  16. وسابق علم خالقنا

    جرى في أهل صفين

    And my salvation or doom,

    And reforming or corrupting me,

  17. رضيت بما قضى الباري

    بإطلاقي وتزفيني

    To elevate me as He wills,

    And to cast me down as He wills.

  18. ومنجاتي ومهلكتي

    وإصلاحي وتأفيني

    I asked You, my God, confession

    Of sin to purify me,

  19. على ما شاء يرفعني

    وفيما شاء يهفوني

    And in obeying You, O God,

    With sincerity to keep me alive,

  20. سألتك يا إلهي من

    إقرار الذنب ترقيني

    And what I fear in the Hereafter,

    O my Master, protect me from!

  21. وفي طاعتك اللَهم

    م بالإخلاص تبقيني

    And what I hope for from this

    And that, make me attain.

  22. وما أخشاه في الداري

    ن يا مولاي توقيني

    And guide me to the Straight Path

    With excellent guidance.

  23. وما أملت من هذي

    ومن تلكم تلقيني

    So oh my triumph! May God show you

    In the Gardens admitted.

  24. وتهديني الصراط المس

    تقيم بحسن تلقين

    So in Firdaws or in the Abode,

    Or the High Gardens,

  25. فيا فوزي أراك اللَه

    ه في الجنات ملقيني

    The honored angels will escort me

    To the wide-eyed houris,

  26. ففي الفردوس أو في الخل

    د أو جنات علين

    Greeting me with peace

    And good tidings gladdening me.

  27. تزفني الملائكة ال

    كرام لحورها العين

    I will embrace the houris joyfully,

    Happily, not sorrowful.

  28. تحييني بتسليم

    وبالبشرى تهنيني

    I will visit Al-Mustafa (Muhammad) therein,

    Whenever I wish.

  29. أعانق حورها فرحاً

    سروراً غير محزون

    May God send prayers on him

    As long as the pen flows.

  30. أزور المصطفى فيها

    على ما شئت من حين

  31. عليه اللَه صلى ما
