1. O Lord, I have laid down the traveling pack of my hope.

And hoped to find the [fulfillment?] of my wish.

  2. And called from behind the door: O Hearer of prayer,

Answer me, and grant me compliance with my prayer.

  3. For the doors of Your creatures have been shut, my Master,

And Your door is open, and You are not far away.

  4. And here I am, standing at the door, my Lord,

And here is my hand, outstretched with my vessel.

  5. So grant me acceptance from You, and listen mercifully,

And do not make rejection from You my recompense.

  6. May my desire find [attainment?] through Your abundant bounty,

And my hopes be brought to fruition, and my praise be overwhelmed.

  7. To You, O God, I complain of an illness of six letters,

And You are my physician; generously bestow my remedy upon them.

  8. For from an alif before a lām and its dhāl,

    And a nūn and a wāw—and a bāʾ—I have fallen ill.

  9. I have asked You for aid toward a rāʾ and its ḥāʾ,

And a mīm after the prayer, and a hāʾ.

  10. And bid me recover from a stumble for which I seek pardon,

And grant me—grant me the rank of the martyrs.

  11. If You protect me from what I fear, and I have

God's Messenger as an intercessor, I shall attain my wish.
