وَمِنكَ إِلى نَفسي فَلُمها وَأَغضِبِ

فَما لِيَ ما بَينَ الصَديقَينِ مَدخَلُ

From you to myself I chide it, though it anger

What between two friends have I to intermeddle?

تَحَكَّم بِها ما شِئتَ تَنفي وَتَصطَفي

وَتُقصي وَتُدني ثُمَّ تُحيي وَتَقتُلُ

You may control it as you will, select

And set aside, debase and raise, then slay and quicken
