أَصبَحتُ في عُرى وَفي عُسرٍ

أَلبَسُ كَفَّيَّ مِنَ القُرِّ

I have become destitute and in hardship

I clothe my palms with leprosy

قَد مَسَّني الضُرُّ وَها أَنتَ قَد

صِرتَ عَزيزَ المُلكِ في مِصرِ

Affliction has touched me, and here you are

Become mighty in the kingdom of Egypt
