لَكَ عِندي يَدٌ وَما لِلِساني
بِيَدٍ تَملَأُ الرُءوسَ يَدانِ
You have done me a kindness—and the tongue has no
hand, while two hands fill every head.
وَالبَيانُ الصَحيحُ عِندَكَ لا عِن
دي وَلَكِنَّ الحالَ فَوقَ اللِسانِ
And true eloquence is yours, not m—
—ine; but my state lies beyond the tongue.
حَفِظَ اللَهُ مِن زَماني زَماني
وِبِحَقٍّ أَدعو فَأَنتَ زَماني
May God preserve my Time from my time;
and truly I pray—for you are my Time.
