أَدارَهُمُ قَد كُنتِ داراً لِدَهرِهِم
وَمِن بعدِ سُكناهُ لَها اِنتَقَلَ الدَهرُ
O dwelling of theirs, once you were their home through all their days;
and after they dwelt there, Time itself moved on.
أُريدُ الغِنى المُغَنّي عَنِ الناسِ وَالغِنى
إِذا كانَ يُلجيني إِلَيهِم هُوَ الفَقرُ
I seek the wealth that frees me from dependence on people—and wealth,
if it drives me to turn to them, is poverty itself.
