1. وَلَو لَم يَكُن يَمشي عَلَيهِ بِرِجلِهِ

    لما كُنتُ أَدري عِلَّةً لِلتَيَمُّمِ

    Had he not walked upon it with his feet

    I would not have known the reason for tayammum.

  2. وَمِن عَجَبٍ أَن يُظلَمَ المالُ وَحدَهُ

    وَلَم يَبقَ في أَيّامِكَ الغُرِّ ظالِمُ

    How strange that wealth alone should be wronged,

    And in your days there remains no oppressor.

  3. أَخَذتَ عَنِ الدَهرِ الَّذي هُوَ ظالِمُ

    فَأَنتَ بِما يَجني زَعيمٌ وَغارِمُ

    You have taken after time which itself is oppressive,

    So by what you reap you are a leader and a debtor.
