1. أَنا مِنكَ لِلأَيّامِ عاتِب

    وَلَها بِثَأرِكَ أَيُّ طالِب

    I blame the days for you

    And demand your revenge from them

  2. وَمُخاصِمٌ فَإِذا اِقتَضَي

    نا فَالقُضاةُ هِيَ العَواقِب

    I quarrel, so when necessary

    Consequences are the judges

  3. مُتَوَقِّعٌ أَنَّ اللَيا

    لي وا لِداتٌ لِلعَجائِب

    Expecting that the nights give birth

    To wonders

  4. وَاللَهِ لا نادَمتُ بَع

    دَكَ يا هِلالُ سِوى الكَواكِب

    By God, after you I regret nothing,

    O crescent, but the stars

  5. وَلَأَبكِيَنكَ بِالسَحا

    ئِبِ فَوقَ ما بَكَتِ السَحائِب

    And I will weep for you with wolves

    Above what the clouds have wept

  6. لا يُذكِرَنكِ يا سَوا

    كِبُ جودَهُ إِلّا السَواكِب

    No generous ones will mention you

    O stars, but the generous ones

  7. فُلَّت مَضارِبُ بَأسِهِ

    مِن بَعدِ تَغليلِ المَضارِب

    His assault tents have folded

    After misleading the assault tents

  8. حَفِظَ التَجارِبَ وَالمَصا

    ئِبُ لا تَجيئُ عَلى التَجارِب

    Experiences are kept and calamities

    Do not come upon experiences

  9. وَلَها ضَرائِبُ ثُمَّ كَم

    طَرَقَت عَلى غَيرِ الضَرائِب

    And it has taxes, then how

    It knocked on other than taxes

  10. وَالمَرءُ مَغلوبٌ عَلى

    تَدبيرِهِ وَاللَهُ غالِب

    And man is overcome

    On his scheme, and God is victorious
