1. يَكادُ يَطيرُ مِن شَوقٍ فُؤادي

    وَلَكِن ما تُطاوِعُهُ الضُلوعُ

    My heart soars nearly takes flight from yearning

    But these ribs obey it not in its endeavour

  2. كَأَنَّ الشَمسَ لَما غِبتَ غابَت

    عَنِ الدُنيا فَلَيسَ لَها طُلوعُ

    As though when you departed, set, the sun

    And so rose never from the world again
